CHEEKWOOD ANNOUNCES SPECIAL LECTURE MARCH 25
NASHVILLE, TN – Don't miss this special presentation by Dr. William H. Gerdts, one of the leading authorities on the study of American Impressionism and American art on Thursday, March 25 at 6:00 pm. The lecture will be in Massey Auditorium located in Botanic Hall and is free and open to the public.
Gerdts has played a role in landmark exhibitions on major American art movements, published numerous books and exhibition catalogues, as well as taught and advised a generation of graduate students who are now leaders in the field. His illustrated lecture will elucidate the appeal of garden and floral subjects for American Impressionist artists. Sponsored by Entrekin Lectureship Fund.
The American Impressionists in the Garden is an exhibition exploring the theme of the garden in American art and society of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The exhibition features approximately forty paintings depicting European and American gardens by American Impressionist artists along with four bronze sculptures created by American artists for the garden and will be on display March 13 through September 6.
