Experience the creative process up close as professional artists demonstrate their crafts at your school. Students watch as a piece of paper is transformed into a book or flower; discover how a block of clay is thrown on a pottery wheel to make a bowl; and learn the art of marbling as the mixing of dyes transfer a unique design onto a piece of cloth. These interactive art demonstrations will inspire your students to explore their own creative potential. Craft Outreach is open to six public elementary schools in Davidson, Rutherford, Williamson and Wilson Counties.
Explore Cheekwood both inside and out! On this educational adventure, 3rd grade students in Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford and Wilson Counties will examine the exhibitions within the Museum of Art, discover the natural wonders of the botanic garden, and participate in a hands-on art project. Featuring topics from composition and technique to plant parts and interdependence, this program corresponds to art, science, and social studies curriculum standards. Four schools will be selected to participate in fall 2015. Buses will be paid for by Cheekwood.
