Celebrating the remarkable life of Sigourney Cheek, our new Literary Garden will offer Cheekwood’s guests a place to seek solace and inspiration with a gorgeous view of the Tennessee hills. The amphitheater setting was specially designed by Ben Page of PAGE | DUKE Landscape Architects to host poetry and book readings for groups of up to 40 people, with additional space for receptions and
other social gatherings.

In celebration of the opening of the Sigourney Cheek Literary Garden, Cheekwood invites Nashville’s community of readers and book lovers to visit each month for a series of literary events in the garden. Join us as celebrated local authors share their stories, describe their process, and offer ‘behind-the-text’ accounts of their works.
This program is offered in partnership with Parnassus Books.

Garden Tales
4th Saturday of each month, May through September – 11:00am

Join us the 4th Saturday of every month for an exploration into the wide world of literature! Using songs, dance, and interactive reading, seasoned storyteller Rachel Sumner will bring your favorite nature-themed books to life. Programs are scheduled from May through September and meant for ages 2-8 years with an adult. Weather permitting, Garden Tales takes place outdoors in the Sigourney Cheek Literary Garden.
