Join us for special weekend programs celebrating our American West exhibits.

Saturday, March 3

Kids Corral – Extended Saturday AM Arts & Activities
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
YeeHaw…come enjoy activities especially for children in the Kids Corral! From western-inspired art and craft projects to cowboy sing-alongs, there will be something for every young cowboy and cowgirl! Check the website for a complete list of activities.

Explore the Visions of the American West: Masterworks from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center exhibition on a guided tour with Cheekwood’s knowledgeable docents.

Public Program – Cowboy Songs and Campfire Sing-alongs
11:00 am
Robert Fry, senior lecturer of music history and literature at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, accompanied by local fiddler Ben Sanders, will present a program on traditional cowboy songs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Following a brief talk and demonstration, participants will have the opportunity to construct folk instruments, learn a traditional cowboy song, and participate in a campfire sing-along.

Go West: Opera @ Cheekwood

Join Nashville Opera and Cheekwood for a family-friendly afternoon of music, cowboys and fun. Nashville Opera's Mary Ragland Young Artist Program Members will offer beloved-favorites of the American musical theater mixed with familiar tunes from classic American composers. This interactive program will include popular melodies from Annie Get your Gun and Shenandoah as well as arias from The Ballad of Baby Doe and The Tender Land. American composers Libby Larsen and Aaron Copland will also be featured. This western-themed afternoon is in celebration of Nashville Opera’s production of The Girl of the Golden West and Cheekwood’s Visions of the American West exhibit. Open to the public. 
*Cheekwood admission fee applies.
