ACCESSIBILITY
Cheekwood is committed to making its exhibitions, programs and services as accessible as possible, and is actively working to make its grounds and facilities user-friendly. However, due to the historic nature of much of the gardens and mansion, some areas may present challenges to those in wheelchairs, or who have difficulty walking or climbing.

ENTRANCE/PATHS
Each parking lot includes reserved spaces for those with mobility challenges. Cheekwood’s grounds are accessible by paved pathways throughout the gardens and leading to the museum. Many garden areas can be reached in a variety of ways, including stair-free options for most specialty gardens. Wheelchair ramps and an elevator are available at the Museum of Art. However, due to the historic nature of the institution, certain paths may be narrow, uneven, or steep, and select rooms inaccessible by wheelchair. Please refer to the Accessible Map for parking locations and recommended routes.  

RESTROOMS
Accessible restrooms are located in each building.

WHEELCHAIRS
Cheekwood provides manually operated wheelchairs as a courtesy to our guests. They are available on a first come, first served basis and can be checked-out from the Visitor Services Center.

SHUTTLE SERVICE
Cheekwood has both small shuttles to serve those with limited mobility and a larger shuttle equipped with a wheelchair lift. Transport is available between parking lots and buildings, but not on garden paths. Shuttles run seasonally. Please call Visitor Services (615-353-6968) prior to your visit for shuttle availability.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Specially Adapted Tours
Specially adapted tours are available by prearrangement for groups with mobility, hearing, visual, cognitive and/or other disabilities. These themed tours are developed around the needs and interests of the participants and can focus on any aspect of the collections and exhibitions. Touchable and visual materials often supplement descriptions and discussions. Interested groups must contact the Education Department (615-353-9827) 4-weeks prior to their desired tour time.

Large Print Gallery Labels
Large print gallery labels are prepared for select exhibitions and available for check-out from the Information Desk in the Museum Foyer.

Pre-Visit Planning Resources
Cheekwood has partnered with Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s TRIAD (Treatment & Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders) to develop resources designed to help families have a welcoming and enriching experience.
