All summer long, Cheekwood offers exciting and inspiring experiences, indoors and out. From scavenger hunts, butterfly chasing and treehouse climbing to yoga in the garden and author events, we invite you to discover the color, wonder and peaceful nature of Summertime at Cheekwood.

Come back after sunset for a perfect date night or a fun family outing-- We’ll stay open until 10 pm every Friday from May through October so you can drink in the night air and enjoy some light music, libations and great art indoors and out!

Attention all readers and book lovers: Cheekwood has a special series of literary programs just for you. Join us in the Sigourney Cheek Literary Garden to listen as celebrated local authors share their stories, describe their processes and offer ‘behind-the-text’ accounts of their work.

Your little adventurers can make the most of their Cheekwood visit with a Backpack Adventure. Pick up a backpack at the Visitor Services Center, and inside you will find interactive and fun activities to use as you explore Cheekwood’s nature neighborhood! You can create a customized Color Garden, play the Cheekwood Challenge card game, and discover patterns in the Japanese Garden! Backpacks may be picked-up in exchange for a driver’s license, are available during opening hours year-round, and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
For art and outdoor adventures, you can’t beat summer camps at Cheekwood! Keep your kids busy and engaged this summer with time-tested favorites such as Awesome Acrylics and Clay Creations to new offerings like Beautiful Books and Garden Sprouts. We have an entire summer of fun and fresh classes to engage and inspire every young artist. Don’t miss out on the fun
PATRICK DOUGHERTY: LITTLE BITTY PRETTY ONE

Patrick Dougherty, this year’s Martin Shallenberger Artist-in-Residence, is a sculptor who combines his carpentry skills with his love of nature to create giant, tangled works made entirely from tree saplings.

Fifty years ago, Andy Warhol began working on silkscreen paintings of flowers, a subject that would preoccupy him for the rest of his life. This exhibition is a rare occasion when Warhol’s artificial flower images meet the floral abundance of an actual garden.
