10 AM – 12 PMJoin Stony Creek Colors for a hands-on shibori workshop using natural indigo grown by middle-Tennessee farmers. Learn traditional shibori techniques, a Japanese tie-dyeing method originating almost 2,000 years ago, to make unique moon and star patterns to as part of Cheekwood’s 8th Annual Japanese Moon Viewing festival. Attendees of this event will receive a clothing item and a 100% silk scarf to hand dye with natural indigo vats prepared by the Stony Creek Colors team.

Stony Creek Colors manufactures traceable, plant-based dyes that enrich farm ecosystems, help fight climate change, and empower people with safer, cleaner colors. Participants will be dyeing with IndiGold®, the world’s first pre-reduced 100% bio-based indigo liquid dye designed for dyers of all skill and knowledge levels. Be one of the first to experience the gold standard and future of indigo dyeing.

Adult classes and workshops are for participants 18 years old and older only. Minors should not be brought into classrooms and other instructional areas.
Participants in this workshop will also receive free admission to the Japanese Moon Viewing celebration, Sunday, October 9 from 4pm-9pm.
