INTERNATIONAL PLAYHOUSES

Cheekwood is excited to announce it’s 2016 summer exhibition, International Playhouses. Opening May 21 and running through Sept. 4, the exhibition will feature large-scale outdoor playhouses inspired by the travels of the Cheek family.

International Playhouses is presented in collaboration with AIA Middle Tennessee, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects. A panel of judges chose six designs from Nashville architectural firms, choosing the winners based on creativity, imagination, interactivity, visual appeal/aesthetics and family appeal. The winning designs and firms are:

Monsoon Pavilion inspired by India; design firm: Rachel DeBacker Architecture
Edinburgh Castle inspired by Scotland, design firm: ESa
Parallax inspired by Spain; design firm: Centric Architecture
Juego Tejido inspired by Chile; design firm: Aesh Design
Kyūbu inspired by Japan; design firm: Tuck Hinton Architects
Casa d’Espanya inspired by Spain; design firm: Gould Turner
