Cheekwood’s Riverview Gardens at Riverfront Park
Since 2015, Cheekwood has partnered with the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to present Riverview Gardens: a half-acre garden, educational programming and art at Riverfront Park in downtown Nashville. Cheekwood contributes to the overall care and oversight of the gardens, maintaining the perennial plants, and regularly installing annual plants that mirror coinciding displays at Cheekwood.
Cheekwood also exhibits outdoor sculpture from its permanent collection at Riverview Gardens. Currently on view is Silent Music II (2013) by internationally acclaimed Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. The large steel sculpture was installed at Riverfront Park in 2017, following a major exhibition of Plensa’s work at Cheekwood in 2015. The display of art at Riverview Gardens demonstrates Cheekwood’s commitment to offering a unique, natural environment in which to experience and enjoy contemporary sculpture.
