The hands were sourced from door knockers in the shape of the Hand of Fatima, which is often found in Spain, typically holding an apple.

Kousa is another name for the Flowering Dogwood Tree, which can be found all over Cheekwood’s grounds, but most notably in the Carrell Dogwood Garden.

Ann was working on the bouquets in her studio when she saw a spiderweb in the corner of the room and was inspired by its beauty and resilience. Ann mentions the aphorism “spider silk is stronger than steel.”
