Sarracenia ‘Judith Hindle’ (Pitcher Plant)

Bloom Time: April to May

Sun Requirement: Full Sun

Water Requirement: Wet

Wildlife: Attracts insects

Tolerates: Wet soils

Native to North America: Yes

Zones: 6 – 8

Other: This carnivorous plant is perfect for a bog garden! The soil must be consistantly wet and acidic and they need to be protected in the winter months. The narrow pitchers lure insects inside with their nectar.

Ilex verticillata ‘Winter Gold’ (Wintergold Winterberry)

Bloom Time: March to July

Sun Requirement: Full Sun to Part Shade

Water Requirement: Medium

Wildlife: Fruit provides food to birds and is a host plant for Henry’s Elfin butterfly.

Tolerates: Resistant to fire, fairly deer resistant

Native to North America: Yes

Zones: 3 – 9

Other: This multi-stemmed shrub produces many clumps of glossy peach-colored berries in fall throughout winter.
