MERJ
MERJ believes music should still be able to surprise you. That a song can be catchy and easy to love and still take you somewhere you’ve never been. MERJ writes original music and plays classics that do both: grooves you can feel right away, and harmony and ideas that reveal themselves the longer you listen. We happen to play jazz, blues, and funk. What we’re really doing is making music for people who’d forgotten they were allowed to be surprised. Based in Nashville, MERJ pairs strong grooves and rich harmony with catchy hooks, striking a balance between depth and immediacy. It is the kind of blues and jazz you stop to listen to and find yourself humming later.

Tim Gartland
For Tim Gartland, seeing Muddy Waters in concert in his home state of Ohio at age 13 proved to be a life changing experience. It inspired Tim Gartland to learn the blues on the harmonica and begin his musical journey. Tim soon began playing in bands and learning the craft of writing and playing roots/blues music. Tim’s creative body of work includes six critically acclaimed solo albums of original material. (DownBeat, Boston Globe, Nashville Scene)
