Cheekwood offers hands-on art workshops for adults! Designed for the beginner, these workshops will give you a taste of a variety of art forms and crafting techniques, and inspire you to keep creating long after the class has ended.
These classes and workshops are for participants 18 years old and older only. Minors should not be brought into classrooms and other instructional areas.
Ode to Monet: Impressionist Painting

Inspired by the exhibition “Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist Works on Paper by the Artist and His Circle,” participants will explore the world of impressionist painting, from dappled light to textured brush strokes, and paint their own impressionist scene.
Printmaking: Hand-printed tea towels

Join Turnip Green Creative Reuse to examine with a variety of everyday objects, and explore how their unique designs can be printed and turned into art! Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to experiment printing with an array of materials, create a simple, hand-carved stamp, and print their own one-of-a-kind tea towels.
Embroidered Landscapes: Lavender Fields

Lavender fields, with their perpendicular rows and many textures make for the perfect embroidery subject! After learning several basic embroidery stitches, participants will have the opportunity to stitch their own Parisian scene.

Join local artist Nisha Chhetri to learn about the ins and outs of henna! Nisha will explain the cultural significance of henna designs, and how to apply henna on the skin. Each participant will receive a cone of henna, and will have the opportunity to practice the various techniques during class time.

Inspired by the exhibit, “Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist Works on Paper by the Artist and His Circle,” participants in this workshop will explore the process of monoprinting, a type of printmaking, and create their own unique, layered work of art.
Stained Glass Suncatcher

Learn the basics of stained-glass art with Nashville Glassworks! Participants will use the copper foil and soldering method created by Louis B. Tiffany to foil and solder together precut shapes and assemble to create a suncatcher for your home.
French-Inspired Floral Arrangements

Ooh La La! Participants in this workshop will learn how to put together a simple yet elegant bouquet inspired by French design principles.

Nature Journaling: Creating with found objects.

Inspired by the exhibit: Trolls: Save the Humans, participants will learn some basic book-binding skills and create a nature journal from found and recycled materials.

Refund requests must be submitted to [email protected] 72 hours prior to the program’s start date and time. The registration fee will be refunded less a ten percent processing charge.
Fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable on and after the program’s start date. Cheekwood cannot refund fees requested on or after the start date of a program or for sessions missed due to illness or other personal situations.
