Wonder Women: Women Printmakers of the 1970s - Cheekwood
x icon Close

This exhibition features prints created in the 1970s by women who advocated for themselves and their work at a time when most galleries unfairly labeled them to be bad investments. Having entered the workforce on the heels of second-wave feminism, these women were uniquely situated to defy gravity. Just as Wonder Woman augmented the pantheon of superheroes, the women artists of the 1970s did the same for modern art as they fought for recognition in a male-dominated field. All 19 works on paper in this exhibition were pulled from Cheekwood’s permanent collection.
