Public Guided Tours

Cheekwood offers public tours of the gardens and Historic Mansion & Museum to individuals and families as part of general admission. Guided tours are interactive, discussion based, and last 45 minutes to one hour.

Historic Mansion & Museum tours, which are limited to 20 participants, can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis in the mansion each day. Registered participants will be given a wristband to wear during the tour.

Garden tours are not limited in number, but early arrival is encouraged. All tours are subject to volunteer docent availability.

House and History Walk-up Tour 
Tours meet outside the main entrance to the Historic Mansion & Museum. In case of inclement weather, tours will begin in the Entrance Hall of the Historic Mansion & Museum.

*Tours are not offered on Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th and Easter.  Additional tours will be available during festivals.

Group Tours

Let Cheekwood transport your group to another time and place. With 55-acres of majestic botanical gardens, world-class art exhibitions, and the historic Cheek family home, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Group rates are available for 15 or more guests with complimentary admission for the driver and group leader. More Information

School Groups

Engage students in art, history, and botanical gardens with a field trip to Cheekwood. Cheekwood offers free admission to all school groups from Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. Students in grades pre-k-12 can enjoy a self-guided experience through the gardens.

  • Field Trips are available Tuesday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM.
  • All field trips are self-guided through the gardens only.
  • The minimum group size for scheduling field trips is 15. Groups smaller than 15 must pay regular admission prices.
  • The maximum group size for scheduling field trips is 25. This includes students, teachers, and chaperones. This number is in accordance with Mayor Cooper’s guidelines.
  • Students and teachers are admitted free of charge. Adult chaperones (non-school employees) are required to pay the group rate of $16/person.
  • For home school groups, one adult per family will be admitted free of charge. Additional adults will pay the chaperone fee of $16/person.
  • Advanced registration is required due to timed ticketing for all visitors. Groups will be required to pick a specific date and time.
  • Date and time requests must be at least two weeks in advance.
  • Field trips are rain or shine.

School Group Guidelines

The health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers remain a top priority at Cheekwood. In line with the latest guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Tennessee Department of State Health Services, and the City of Nashville related to COVID-19, Cheekwood kindly requests your support by adhering to the following protocols to protect your health and safety.

  • Visit another day should you not feel well or have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Practice social distancing by staying six feet apart from others.
  • Use every day preventative measures (e.g. wash hands, cover coughs, etc.)
  • All visitors are required to wear cloth face coverings when entering buildings. Cloth face coverings are required in outdoor areas except when maintaining a physical distance of at least 6’ from other visitors. Parents are asked to follow CDC guidelines regarding the use of masks for children.
